You know how I haven't written anything at all for the last couple of years? Yeah, well, apparently the drought has broken thanks to two beautiful boys and the angst they just naturally generate.

Fandom: Captain America (2011), Marvel, Avengers (2012)
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes
Rating: PG-13 for some language and a wee bit of canon-typical violence
Warnings: boy kissage and vague movie type spoilers, but nothing specific
Summary: Apparently the Winter Soldier can speak at least four different languages. Bucky's not so sure about that
Notes: Title take from The West Wing episode of the same name. All the bits in other languages came from the interwebs so please forgive me and offer suggestions if they are wrong.

This is my first fic in this fandom and my first fic at all in a loooong time, so be gentle with me :)

I went to see The Avengers list night and all I can say is WOW!

( Actually, I can say more so I'll cut for spoilers because I know most of you won't have seen it yet )

I am definitely going to see this one on the big screen again, and I would not be at all surprised if I bought the extended DVD version when it comes out for Christmas (as you know it will.) And in the meantime there's all this unread fic to wade through. Having pretty much exhausted the Bucky/Steve stories I've moved onto Clint/Coulson and even Tony/Steve is catching my eye on the odd occasion.

Good grief, I seem to have acquired a new fandom. Eeep!

I am ridiculously excited about going to see The Avengers on Wednesday and to that end I have watched Captain America about fives times in the last week and I've been mainlining fic and OMG I am so in love with Steve and Bucky I cannot believe I did not know about them before now. And of course most of the fic is Steve/Tony which, yeah, I totally get but I don't want!

Lord, I haven't been this enthusiastic about a paring since Dan and Casey. And who knows I might even write something if I'm up to it because the ANGST, oh the ANGST! What with the dying and the not dying and Bucky coming back as Winter Soldier with murky morals and an even murkier past and woobie Steve who is all upright and commanding except when he's not because he keeps losing his best friend and then finding him again.

Gah!

(The point of all this is that if you can point me toward some good fic that isn't on A03 cos I've read all of that, I'd be most grateful.)

Two posts in one week. It's a Saturnalia miracle, to quote Leonard Hofstadter.

I'm off to Jacques Reymond, a very posh restaurant for dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday with my friends Adelaide and Erin. I expect my bank balance to be a lot lighter by the end of the evening, judging by the price list. But its nice to indulge in a little bit of fine dining every now and then, especially when the establishment has wallaby on their degustation menu. Wallaby, I tell you!
